  • Ed Clark joined Farm Journal Media the spring of 2011. While he’ll be spending the majority of his time as business and issues editor for Top Producer, he’ll also be writing for Farm Journal and AgWeb.com. Ed has a long-term commitment to agricultural journalism, having spent his varied career writing for numerous publications, both as editor, staff editor and freelancer, getting to the heart of complex issues for readers. Preparing him for that role were post-graduate studies in economics at the University of Minnesota, and his journalism studies at Iowa State University, where he earned his B.A. Ed also has his roots deep in agriculture, growing up and working on a corn, soybean, and cattle farm near Winterset, Iowa. Prior to joining Farm Journal Media, Ed worked as editor of several agricultural publications for WATT Publishing, Miller Publishing, and Multi Ag Media.   • Jen Russell began her career at Farm Journal in 2010, copy editing the company’s print publications. Since then, she has made the transition to full-time online editor, managing content and new projects for AgWeb.com, and overseeing eNewsletter production. Jen traveled to the Midwest in 2007 to pursue a master’s degree at the Missouri School of Journalism. Before that, she earned degrees in journalism and environmental studies at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Her original plan was to become an environmental journalist, but eventually she fell into the world of agriculture and never looked back. Jen grew up on a small tree farm in western Pennsylvania, and while there nurtured a strong appreciation for rock music, Steelers football, french fries on salads and all things outdoors. After living in Missouri for 6 years, she returned to her family’s farm, where she currently resides with her husband, two sons and a super-huggable pit bull named Daisy.   • John is the National Editor at Farm Journal. Doing a little bit of everything, he covers “big picture” stories and conservation issues. He was born and raised near Mexico, Mo. on a beef cattle farm, graduating from the University of Missouri – Columbia with degrees in wildlife biology and forest management, with a minor in Agronomy. He worked for the Missouri Dept. of Conservation as a land management biologist where he was responsible for sharecrop contracts with local farmers on state land. He also helped establish the first program within the Dept. that made allowances for wildlife habitat within complex cropping systems focusing on soil conservation practices like reduced tillage and warm season grass establishment. He authored the booklet “Farming and Wildlife in Missouri which showed farmers how they could manage positively for wildlife populations with practices like narrow row soybeans and paddock grazing. He has been a landscape designer and contractor, marketer for McDonalds restaurants in Europe, Mexico and the States and a graphic designer of product packaging. Before joining Farm Journal, he published a popular regional entertainment newspaper called “The Little Dixie Weekender.” He resides on the family farm with an adopted English setter.
