Pro Farmer Crop Tour
For more than 30 years, Pro Farmer Crop Tour scouts have been providing the agriculture industry with insights into potential corn and soybean production, gathering scout reports from 2,000+ fields across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio and South Dakota.
The next Pro Farmer Crop Tour takes place August 18-21, 2025.
Observations from the field on day 3 of the 2025 Crop Tour.
We sampled a disease-ridden corn crop, while soybeans proved impressive.
Illinois made for a mixed bag of results, with a lower-than-expected corn yield while soybean pod counts were a record. Preliminary Iowa data is indicative of a big crop, though disease pressure could limit potential into the homestretch.
Scouts took samples from Iowa districts 1, 4 and 7. Iowa’s full results will be posted at the end of Day 4.
Scouts measured average corn yield potential of 199.57 bu. per acre. Pod counts in a 3' x 3' square averaged 1,479.22.
Preliminary results from Tour leaders and Consultants on the eastern and western legs.
We saw a very healthy corn crop overall along our route across the western leg. Soybeans will require rains for a strong finish.
Yield potentials are strong in Nebraska, but yield-robbing factors may present challenges.
A variable crop was featured across Indiana and Illinois. Disease and nutrient loss were each noticeable throughout today’s travels across the eastern leg of the Crop Tour.
