Corn and soybean basis continues seasonal recovery from harvest lows.

CORN COMMENTS

The national average corn basis firmed 3 1/2 cents to 3/4 cent above December futures. The national average cash corn price firmed 6 cents to $6.88 1/4.

Basis is a little weaker than the three-year average of 1 3/4 cents over futures.

SOYBEAN COMMENTS

The national average soybean basis firmed 10 3/4 cents to 9 cents below January futures. The national average cash price firmed 83 cents to $14.63.

Basis is better than the three-year average of 7 1/4 cents under futures.

WHEAT COMMENTS

The national average soft red winter (SRW) wheat basis firmed 1 3/4 cents to 41 1/4 cents under December futures. The average cash price firmed 7 1/4 cents to $8.04 3/4. SRW basis is much weaker than the three-year average of 16 1/4 cents under futures.

The national average hard red winter (HRW) wheat basis held at 39 1/2 cents below December futures. The average cash price slipped 1/2 cent to $9.00 3/4. HRW basis is weaker than the three-year average of 29 3/4 cents under futures.

CATTLE COMMENTS

Cash cattle trade averaged $151.95 last week, up $1.88 from the previous week. Cash cattle trade has been slow to develop but is expected to be higher again this week. Last year, the cash price was $129.23.

Choice boxed beef firmed $2.60 over the past week to $263.47. Last year, Choice boxed beef prices were $288.49.

HOG COMMENTS

The average lean hog carcass price dropped $1.22 over the past week to $91.89. Last year’s lean carcass price on this date was $75.37.

The pork cutout value dropped $1.51 over the past week to $96.23. Last year at this time, the cutout price stood at $100.44.
