Extreme heat didn't hurt corn, soybean crop conditions as much as expected
When USDA’s weekly condition ratings are plugged into the weighted Pro Farmer Crop Condition Index (CCI; 0 to 500-point scale, with 500 representing perfect), the corn crop dropped 5.4 points to 350.1, which was still 2.6 points (0.8%) above last year at this time. The soybean crop fell 4.9 points to 344.0, which was 1.8 points (0.5%) below last year at the end of August.
