Corn, soybean CCI ratings decline, spring wheat improves

( )

When USDA’s weekly condition ratings are plugged into the weighted Pro Farmer Crop Condition Index (CCI; 0 to 500-point scale, with 500 representing perfect), the corn crop fell 3.5 points to 376.2, though that was still 4.4 points above the five-year average. The soybean crop dropped 4.9 points to 366.0, though that was still 5.5 points above average for the date. Declines were relatively widespread with only a handful of states seeing modest improvement over the past week.

The spring wheat crop improved 10.8 points to 364.21, almost entirely due to better ratings in North Dakota and Montana. The CCI rating was 17.3 points above the five-year average, which was heavily weighted down by last year’s drought-impacted crop.
