  • Loren is a Denver, Iowa, farmer and “equine enthusiast.” Well... he’s an enthusiast with a twist. Let’s just call him “The Mule Guy.” Loren will bring a nostalgic connection between the outdoors and farming as we feature his mules on Outdoors on the Farm. When we’re riding, you’ll see Loren on his favorite mule, Rose. Loren is an avid trail rider and travels throughout the Midwest in the summer to meet with other mule riders. Loren’s biggest mule-riding adventure was a 10-day pack trip into the Colorado Rockies. He says, “I’d sure like to erase some of the myths about mules and give some tips about a really fun way to spend time in the outdoors just by saddling up a mule and going for a ride.”

He is absolutely crazy for the outdoors and when he’s not making feed at a mill in Clarence, Iowa, you can probably find Steve sitting in a tree stand, a turkey blind, a flat-bottomed boat or on the bank of the Wapsipinicon River in eastern Iowa. Each fall, Steve also runs an extensive trap line for raccoon, coyote, beaver, mink and muskrat. Steve’s insights into hunting, fishing and trapping farms in eastern Iowa will help you make the most of the time you’ve got to spend in the outdoors.
