Winter wheat ratings were unchanged to finish the season, as the harvest has now exceeded 50% complete. Corn
USDA’s rating of the corn crop shows 8% as very poor to poor, 25% fair, and 67% good to excellent. While USDA’s state-level ratings ultimately offset at the national level, the Crop Condition Index shows a 1.15 point decrease from last week. Condition changes were sporadic geographically, though in general mild improvements were made in the northern Corn Belt and slight declines occurred in the east.

Soybeans
USDA’s soybean ratings show the crop rated as 8% very poor to poor, 28% fair, and 64% good to excellent. The good to excellent categories declined 1% from last week. The CCI rating rose 0.36 points from last week. State-level ratings saw multiple states left unchanged, and the small increases in multiple states offset the largest decline of the week that occurred in North Dakota.

Spring wheat ratings came in at 7% very poor to poor, 36% fair, and 57% good to excellent. The good to excellent category fell 2% from the previous week, dropping the CCI rating 4.1 points to 358.06.

Winter wheat saw its final condition ratings to cap off a tough year for the crop. The U.S. crop was rated at 47% very poor to poor, 27% fair, and 26% good to excellent, unchanged from the week prior. The Crop Condition Index showed HRW gain 2.39 points to 237.76, while SRW decreased 0.56 points to 368.46.
