USDA’s weekly Crop Progress and Condition report showed corn ratings unchanged from the prior week, and soybean ratings mildly improve from last week. Winter wheat ratings pulled back slightly from week-ago levels. State-level breakdowns of the Pro Farmer Crop Condition Index (0-to-500 scale, with 500 being perfect), which compresses the USDA’s weekly crop progress report into a single, weighted, easy-to-track number that’s widely used to monitor the health and potential of U.S. corn and soybean crops during the growing season — and more details around USDA ratings — are below.
Corn
USDA’s rating of the corn crop shows 6% as very poor to poor, 26% fair, and 68% good to excellent at the national level. The Crop Condition Index shows a 0.07 point net increase as most states saw changes of less than one point in CCI ratings that ultimately nearly offset.
