The government continues to be shutdown with no sign of reopening anytime soon as negotiations have come to a halt. We surveyed producers across the Midwest on harvest results thus far and the results are rather eye opening with corn production likely to come in below a year ago and soybean harvest wrapping up. Organizations continue to reach out to lawmakers for farm support. Trade talks are picking up between the world’s top two economies with a meeting still expected to talk place at the end of the month. Cattle futures went on an impressive run before facing heavy selling pressure to end the week while hog futures continue to stairstep lower as cash fundamentals continue to wane seasonally.
