Stagflation concerns mount as Operation Epic Fury has no end in sight, disrupting world energy and fertilizer transports. That has led to fuel shortages in Australia ahead of winter wheat seedings. The costs of fertilizers are likely to deter grain plantings across the globe this spring as well - the extent of which remains largely unknown. A U.S. and China meeting is back on the calendar, though Chinese delegates continue to build relationships with Brazil, hinting at further support in South America. Our acreage survey indicated higher corn seedings than most are expecting, though several respondents noted that decisions could change as input costs are high and fertilizers are becoming difficult to obtain. Weather concerns continue to bode ill for Brazilian corn, though soybean production continues to look robust. We cover all this and much more in this week’s newsletter.
