With USDA’s March planting intentions known a greater focus is shifting to spring weather. Heavy precipitation in the Northern Plains and upper Midwest, along with the Mid-South are raising flooding concerns and questions about whether all the intended corn acres will get planted. Meanwhile, persistent drought in the Southern Plains caused more crop deterioration during winter than traders expected. In Argentina, recent rains stabilized crops, but the focus last week was details of the new “soy dollar” program that is aimed at increasing exports through May 31. We cover all these items and much more in this week’s newsletter, which you can download here.
