President Trump’s mid-May meeting with China’s Xi remains in focus as export demand for soybeans has been disappointing. The meeting was under question early in the week as, what was rumored to be, Chinese ordinance was found on a ship heading to Iran. Still the meeting holds, but the ongoing war in the Middle East continues to disrupt trade flows, despite an extension of the ceasefire. The Argentine corn crop is garnering more attention as private analysts anticipate a crop over 10% higher than where USDA pegged the crop in its April WASDE. Still, corn bulls continue to find their footing as production concerns in 2026 underpin prices. Cattle futures faced profit-taking from funds early in the week, prompting us to look at how LRP can be used as an effective risk management tool.
