Corn and Soybean Drought Conditions improve

Less than 10% of corn and soybean acres are currently impacted

The updated Drought Monitor data from July 29 shows 45% of the U.S. is experiencing some level of abnormal dryness or drought, down less than 1% from last week. Corn acres in drought conditions D1-D4 are estimated at 7% (down 2%), soybean acres at 5% (down 3%), spring wheat is at 38% (down 5%), and 5% for cotton (up 2%). Favorable weather forecasts for the Midwest make it likely for drought to continue to dwindle for most commodities.

Notable changes in major row crop states from last week include an 11% decline in D1-D4 for Indiana, a 15% decline in D1-D4 for Kansas, a 6% decline in D0-D4 in both Nebraska and South Dakota, and a 3% increase in D0-D4 in Tennessee. More maps and select state data can be found below.
