Corn: July corn fell 5 3/4 cents to $4.38 1/4, a six-month low close. Corn futures eventually succumbed to technical pressure despite notable outside market support and short-covering efforts in wheat futures.
Soybeans: July soybeans closed 8 1/4 cents lower at $10.33 1/2 and near session lows. July meal fell $2.4 to $293.90. July bean oil sunk 61 points to 46.28 cents. The whole soybean complex saw selling pressure today, marking losses in four out of the last six trading sessions.
Wheat: July SRW wheat rose a nickel to $5.39, near mid-range. July HRW wheat rose 6 1/2 cents to $5.39 3/4, near mid-range and hit a five-week high early on. July spring wheat futures rose 1 3/4 cents to $56.27 1/4. The winter wheat futures markets today saw short covering, but gains were limited by weaker corn and soybean futures prices.
Cotton: July cotton rose 107 points to 66.13 cents, a three-week high close. Cotton futures scored short-covering gains to start the week, with strong outside market support as the U.S. dollar weakened and crude oil firmed.
Cattle: June live cattle rose $1.075 to $216.55, nearer the daily high. August feeder cattle rose $2.925 to $301.75 and near the daily high. The cattle market bulls shrugged off somewhat of a risk-off trading day in the general marketplace today, amid rising trade tensions between the U.S. and China.
Hogs: June lean hogs slid 47.5 cents to $100.85 and closed near session lows, though deferred contracts saw gains. Hog futures saw profit-taking today despite building strength in the CME lean hog index.
