The National Weather Service has issued flood advisories and flash flood watches for eastern Kansas, eastern Oklahoma, most of Missouri, southeast Iowa and west-central Illinois as these areas have seen very heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, along with tornadoes, high winds and hail. The adverse weather has winter wheat futures climbing, despite high crop condition ratings from USDA yesterday. Corn futures have also climbed as the wet weather spells more trouble for Illinois producer who had only seeded 24% of their crop as of Sunday.
Flood watches and winter storm warnings are also in effect for the western South Dakota and Southeast Montana today, slowing already lagging spring wheat planting.
Wind advisories are in effect for eastern South Dakota, southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.
