Weekly Sales Details

Net sales reductions of 165,900 MT for 2018-19--a marketing-year low--resulting in increases for Mexico (44,800 MT, including 30,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 38,700 MT), Taiwan (8,900 MT), Colombia (7,200 MT, including 7,500 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,000 MT), Barbados (2,100 MT, including decreases of 200 MT), and Canada (1,200 MT, including decreases of 500 MT), were more than offset by reductions for China (157,500 MT), unknown destinations (59,500 MT), and Japan (12,400 MT).  For 2019-20, net sales of 416,700 MT were primarily for Mexico (170,300 MT), unknown destinations (142,000 MT), Japan (45,000 MT), and Colombia (30,000 MT).

Weekly Export Details

Exports of 382,000 MT were down 38% from the previous week and 40% from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Mexico (237,900 MT, including 31,500 MT late reporting), Japan (49,000 MT), Costa Rica (30,500 MT), Colombia (19,000 MT), and Jamaica (14,100 MT).

Export commitments are running 18% behind year-ago versus 17% behind 2017-18 levels the previous week. USDA projects exports in 2018-19 at 2.100 billion bu., down 13.9% from the previous marketing year.

Net sales of 312,100 metric tons for 2019-20 were down 53% from the previous week and 43% from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for the Philippines (86,200 MT, including decreases of 500 MT), Mexico (45,100 MT, including decreases of 4,000 MT), Guatemala (31,600 MT, including 29,100 MT switched from Panama), Colombia (30,100 MT, including 30,200 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 5,600 MT), and Japan (28,000 MT).  Reductions were reported for Panama (19,900 MT), unknown destinations (16,200 MT), and Canada (2,300 MT).

Weekly Export Details

Exports of 558,900 MT were up 27% from the previous week and 6% from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to the Philippines (156,700 MT), Mexico (111,900 MT), Colombia (68,400 MT), Taiwan (42,500 MT), and Honduras (35,200 MT).

Export commitments are running 21% ahead of year-ago compared with 23% ahead the week prior. USDA projects exports in 2019-20 at 975 million bu., up 4.2% from the previous marketing year.

For 2018-19, net sales of 69,400 MT resulting in increases for Indonesia (131,200 MT, including 123,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Pakistan (59,500 MT, including 65,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 5,500 MT), Mexico (47,500 MT, including decreases of 1,300 MT), Colombia (38,600 MT, including 35,400 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Taiwan (35,800 MT, including decreases of 300 MT), were partially offset by reductions for unknown destinations (312,400 MT) and the Philippines (10,000 MT).  For 2019-20, net sales of 788,400 MT primarily for unknown destinations (409,000 MT), Mexico (102,000 MT), Egypt (72,000 MT), Vietnam (69,300 MT), and Bangladesh (57,000 MT), were partially offset by reductions for Malaysia (4,400 MT) and Peru (2,300 MT).

Exports of 1,196,500 MT were up 37% from the previous week and 18% from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to China (780,400 MT), Indonesia (147,900 MT), Mexico (72,400 MT), Pakistan (59,500 MT), and Colombia (38,600 MT).

Net sales of 3,100 MT for 2018-19, were down 66% from the previous week and 72% from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for the Dominican Republic (1,500 MT), Mexico (800 MT), and Canada (800 MT, including decreases of 300 MT).  For 2019-20, net sales of 9,500 MT were for South Korea (7,000 MT), Guatemala (2,000 MT), and Canada (500 MT).

Weekly Export Details

Exports of 17,600 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Colombia (5,000 MT), Jamaica (3,500 MT), Guatemala (2,500 MT), Costa Rica (2,500 MT), and Nicaragua (1,900 MT).

Weekly Export Details

Exports of 230,000 RB were primarily to Vietnam (61,800 RB), Indonesia (29,300 RB), Turkey (23,600 RB), Bangladesh (22,100 RB), and India (16,000 RB).

Export commitments for 2019-20 are running 6% behind year-ago versus 7% behind year-ago last week. USDA forecasts total cotton exports to fall rise 21.0% to 17.2 million bales this marketing year.

Exports of 16,300 MT were up 7% from the previous week and 1% from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Japan (4,700 MT), South Korea (4,000 MT), Mexico (1,600 MT), Taiwan (1,400 MT), and Hong Kong (1,200 MT).

Last week, sales totaled 13,800 MT. USDA projects 2019 exports to slide 0.3% from year-ago levels.

Net sales of 17,700 MT reported for 2019 were down 38% from the previous week and 13% from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Mexico (7,700 MT), South Korea (4,200 MT), Canada (1,800 MT), China (1,400 MT), and Australia (1,300 MT).  Reduction were reported for Japan (1,600 MT).

Exports of 24,400 MT were down 3% from the previous week and 5% from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were to Mexico (7,100 MT), China (6,800 MT), Japan (3,200 MT), South Korea (1,900 MT), and Canada (1,800 MT).

Comments and Performance Indicators
