A Chinese ag delegation canceled plans for visits to farms in Montana and Nebraska, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture and Montana Farm Bureau announced this afternoon. Those officials will return to China sooner than expected.
Soybeans dived in response to the news that may signal trade talks in Washington were not going well. Many expected large Chinese purchases of U.S. farm goods to be announced at the visits planned for next week that were intended to build goodwill.
The Trump administration has been pushing for a comprehensive and enforceable accord, while China was pushing for an interim agreement.
