Weekly Fertilizer Bulletin | Fertilizer Prices Stagnate

  • Fertilizer prices were mostly lower amid very slight movement.
  • Our Nutrient Composite Index softened 0.78 points to 560.43. This compares to last year's 516.13.

Nitrogen

  • Anhydrous ammonia led declines in the nitrogen segment this week on softness in Ohio with most states unchanged.nitrogen chart
  • UAN28% was lower as well with Minnesota leading declines.
  • UAN32% fell 4 cents per short ton on the week with Kansas dropping 41 cents.
  • Urea posted the only gain in the nitrogen segment, up a penny on the week.
  • This week's very light price movement was noted across the range of products in our survey with most states posting little, if any, price changes that is likely indicative that even post-emerge sidedress activity is complete and dealers are awaiting replenishment supplies.

Phosphate

  • Phosphates were mixed with DAP falling and MAP slightly higher.
  • Ohio led the decline in DAP pricing and led the increase in MAP pricing.
  • Wholesale DAP was sideways to higher at most terminals according to MosaicCo.p and k chart
  • Wholesale MAP was slightly higher at the terminals reported.
  • Of note, wholesale sulphur continued sideways, but wholesale ammonia firmed $10 on the week to $280.

Potash

  • Potash was slightly lower on the week with Kansas leading declines.
  • Wholesale potash was higher at all terminals reported by MosaicCo.
  • Vitamin K is priced just below anhydrous ammonia when considered on an indexed basis, marking potash as the least expensive nutrient in our overall survey this week.

Corn Futures

  • December 2018 corn futures closed Friday June 29 at $3.71 putting expected new-crop revenue (eNCR) at $598.40 per acre -- off $7.70 per acre on the week.
  • With our Nutrient Composite Index (NCI) at 560.43 this week, the eNCR/NCI spread narrowed 0.92 points and now stands at -37.97.
