Rains favored Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goias, southwestern Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo and northern Parana over the weekend. The showers further improved soil moisture for corn and soybeans in Mato Grosso and southern Goias, but dryness remains fairly widespread across northern Goias, Bahia, and Minas Gerais.
Little change is expected in the weather pattern this week, with central and northwestern Brazil receiving more beneficial rainfall, although the showers may slow any early soybean harvesting in Mato Grosso. Showers should decrease across north central and northeastern areas in the 6-10 day period.
Meanwhile in Argentina, showers favored southeastern Buenos Aires, southwestern Cordoba and La Pampa over the weekend, with some locally heavy rainfall reported in La Pampa. The showers eased dryness in La Pampa and southeastern Buenos Aires, but dryness remains a concern in south central and southwestern Buenos Aires.
Warm and dry weather in central Argentina allowed flooding and wetness concerns to ease up. Dry weather should continue to ease wetness in central Argentina this week, while light showers in La Pampa and Buenos Aires favor crops.
