Net sales of 1,816,000 MT for 2023/2024 primarily for Mexico (1,147,800 MT, including decreases of 228,500 MT), unknown destinations (147,100 MT), Colombia (141,100 MT, including 31,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 2,300 MT), China (139,400 MT, including 71,400 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 800 MT), and Japan (103,400 MT, including 32,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), were offset by reductions for Egypt (67,800 MT) and Panama (2,500 MT).  Total net sales of 611,400 MT for 2024/2025 were for Mexico.

Weekly Export Details

Exports of 612,400 MT were primarily to Mexico (229,800 MT), China (141,400 MT), Japan (136,600 MT), Honduras (66,100 MT), and Colombia (33,300 MT).

Comments and Performance Indicators

Export commitments are 8.9% ahead a year-ago, compared to behind 3.3% last week. USDA projects exports in 2023-24 at 2.050 billion bu., 23.1% above the previous marketing year.

Net sales of 273,100 metric tons (MT) for 2023/2024 were down 50 percent from the previous week and 34 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for the Philippines (94,000 MT), Taiwan (91,000 MT, including decreases of 2,000 MT), Mexico (42,400 MT, including decreases of 600 MT), Algeria (39,900 MT, including 20,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 600 MT), and Colombia (23,700 MT, including 20,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), were offset by reductions for unknown destinations (99,500 MT), Indonesia (18,900 MT), and Peru (1,000 MT).

Exports of 388,000 MT were down 34 percent from the previous week and 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to the Philippines (64,000 MT), Japan (45,300 MT), South Korea (44,200 MT), Taiwan (36,300 MT), and Canada (30,800 MT).

Export commitments are running 13.5% behind a year-ago, compared to 14.2% behind last week. USDA projects exports in 2023-24 at 700 million bu., down 7.8% from the previous marketing year.

Increases primarily for Poland (28,700 MT, including 30,000 MT switched from Israel and decreases of 1,300 MT), Colombia (13,200 MT, including 8,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 3,000 MT), Honduras (11,000 MT, including decreases of 16,900 MT), the Philippines (7,900 MT), and the Dominican Republic (1,100 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for Israel (30,000 MT), unknown destinations (8,000 MT), Thailand (2,800 MT), Guatemala (1,700 MT), and Taiwan (500 MT). Net sales of 348,100 MT for 2023/2024 primarily for Mexico (116,000 MT), the Philippines (93,700 MT), Indonesia (51,500 MT), Japan (25,600 MT), and Honduras (24,200 MT), were offset by reductions for unknown destinations (45,000 MT), Colombia (3,100 MT), and Burma (900 MT).

Weekly Export Details fade lackluster

Exports of 232,200 MT were up 30 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to the Philippines (50,100 MT), Ecuador (32,800 MT), the Dominican Republic (31,100 MT), Poland (28,700 MT), and Guatemala (20,100 MT).

Export commitments are 6.9% ahead of a year-ago, compared to 6.5% ahead last week. USDA projects exports in 2022-23 will increase 6.4% from the previous marketing year 4.9% in 2023-24.

Total net sales of 2,200 RB for 2024/2025 were for Pakistan.

Weekly Export Details

Exports of 149,600 RB were down 6 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (76,100 RB), Pakistan (14,400 RB), Mexico (12,400 RB), Bangladesh (11,000 RB), and Vietnam (9,000 RB). Net sales of Pima totaling 4,800 RB for 2023/2024 were down 69 percent from the previous week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for China (3,700 RB), India (1,100 RB, including decreases of 800 RB), and South Korea (900 RB), were offset by reductions for Vietnam (900 RB). Exports of 5,100 RB were up noticeably from the previous week and up 27 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were to India (2,400 RB), China (1,300 RB), Pakistan (1,200 RB), and Thailand (100 RB).

Export commitments are running 29.0% behind a year-ago, compared to 30.9% behind last week. USDA forecasts total cotton exports will fall 3.7% from a year ago to 14.45 million bales in 2023-24.

Increases primarily for South Korea (4,300 MT, including decreases of 400 MT), Japan (3,700 MT, including decreases of 400 MT), China (1,600 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), Mexico (700 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), and Canada (700 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), were offset by reductions for the United Kingdom (100 MT). Net sales of 300 MT for 2024 were reported for Hong Kong (200 MT) and Taiwan (100 MT).

Exports of 15,100 MT were down 1 percent from the previous week, but up 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Japan (4,100 MT), South Korea (3,700 MT), China (2,200 MT), Mexico (1,700 MT), and Canada (1,000 MT).

Net sales reductions of 100 MT for 2024 were reported for Japan.

Exports of 28,300 MT were down 6 percent from the previous week, but up 6 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Mexico (11,700 MT), Japan (3,300 MT), China (3,000 MT), South Korea (2,400 MT), and Canada (2,000 MT).
