Informa Economics IEG today projected U.S. soybean plantings at 89.4 million acres, a bit higher than USDA’s 89.0 million acre projection.
The firm also expects corn acres to top USDA’s projection by around 1 million acres, coming in at 89.0 million acres.
Its cotton planting forecast also tops USDA’s by 500,000 acres at 14.0 million acres.
Spring wheat (other than durum) acres will likely come in around 12.4 million acres, according to Informa. This would be 200,000 acres lighter than USDA forecasts.
