Winter Wheat Ratings Fall in Kansas

Winter wheat crop ratings in Kansas edged lower over the past week, with statisticians now putting 53% of the crop in “poor” to “very poor” condition and 12% in the “good” to “excellent” category versus 50% and 13% in these categories, respectively, last week. 

On the other hand, conditions improved a bit in Oklahoma and Texas. Oklahoma now has 72% of the crop in the bottom two categories, down 5 points from week-ago levels, and 7% in the “good” category, up 1 point.

Texas rates 53% of the crop “poor” to “very poor” versus 64% in these categories last week. Its “good” to “excellent” rating also climbed 3 points to 13%.
