Rains favored southern Brazil over the weekend, particularly Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Lighter scattered showers occurred across Mato Grosso, Goias, western Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul.
Rains this week will favor most of Brazil, with the heaviest amounts expected in Mato Grosso do Sul, Sao Paulo, southern Minas Gerais, southern Goias and southern Mato Grosso. The rains should ease lingering dryness in Mato Grosso do Sul, Sao Paulo and Parana and should maintain mostly favorable conditions for corn and soybeans elsewhere. Widespread rainfall is also expected in the 6-10 day period.
Meanwhile, rains favored most of Argentina over the weekend, with the exception of southeastern Buenos Aires. The heaviest amounts favored Santa Fe and Entre Rios, were 2 to 3 inches (50 to 75 mm) of rainfall was reported. The rains replenished soil moisture across most of Argentina, but dryness is lingering across southeastern Buenos Aires. Mostly dry weather is expected this week, which will favor remaining corn and soybean planting and winter wheat harvesting. Showers are expected to return to most areas during the 6-10 day period.
