NWS 6-10 Day: Wet Across Plains, Western Corn Belt

Posted on 03/09/2017 10:23 AM

The National Weather Service forecast for April 17-21 calls for above-normal precip across the Plains and western Corn Belt, while normal to below-normal precip is expected across the eastern Corn Belt. While the rains would be beneficial for developing wheat, they would slow spring planting in the region.

Meanwhile, above-normal temps are expected across the Northern Plains, the entire Corn Belt and eastern areas of the Central Plains, while normal to below-normal temps are expected across western Kansas, western Oklahoma and Texas. If realized, warmer temps would be welcomed by producers waiting for soil temps to warm for planting.
